20 - Jan, 2012 - Falcons game vs Masuk on 1/21 has been postponed

14 - Jan, 2012 - Falcons fall to Tigers of Pawling,NY 7-2

 

The Falcons were unable to keep up with the Tigers from Pawling high school on Saturday afternoon.  Patrick Mimms anf Michael Mattson scored for the Falcons, but the Tiger were too much scoring 7 times.  

 

The Falcons take on the Tri-op of BBD on Wednesday 1/18 @ 6:40 in the Danbury Arena.  It's a SWC matchup of bitter rivals so be sure to come out and support the Falcons!

 

11 - Jan, 2012 - Falcons and Nighthawks fight for Air Supremacy

 

Falcon Game Day! The Falcons take on D2 powerhouse Newtown today at the Danbury Arena at 6:40. The Falcons will be the visiting team as both teams call Danbury their home rink. The 5-0 Falcons look to set a school record by becoming the first hockey team to start a season 6-0. The task won't be easy as the take on one of the strongest Nighthawk teams ever. It should be a great game!


 

7 - Jan, 2012 - Barlow beat Housy 5-1 to move to 5-0 on the season

 

The Faclons have equaled the best start in Barlow Hockey History with a 5-0 start when they defeated the Mountaineers of Housatonic Valley (co-op) on Saturday afternoon.  The Falcons took the lead in the first period with the only goal of the frame.  Some great passing down low ended with Michael Mattson finding the net.  Pat Callahan assisted on the goal. In the second period, the Falcons extended the lead when Jack Cartafalsa scored on a breakaway.  Time Eng and Dan Cirino both had assists.  After surrendering a goal to make the score 2-1, the Falcons would push the lead back to 2 when Cirino scored his first goal for Barlow on a rebound from a Chris Van Camp breakaway.  Barlow would score twice more in the third.  Charlie Berry scored his first high school goal (Eng and Callahan assisted) and Van Camp found the back of the net (Cartafalsa and Eng assisted).  Thierry Jean (20 saves) and Alex Dolcimascolo (3 saves)  turned away all but one shot.  The duo have only allowed 4 goals in 5 games this season.

 

The Falcons look to set a new school record by starting 6-0 when they take on powerhouse D2 Newtown on Wednesday night at the Danbury Arena @ 6:40.  The Falcons will be the visiting team.  Come out and support the team!! 


 

4 - Jan, 2012 - Falcons move to 4-0 with a 3-0 shutout of SWC opponent NFI

 

Thierry Jean shut down the Rebels of NFI on Wednesday night at the Danbury Arena. Jean picked up his first shutout of the season turning away all 15 shots he saw. The win moved the Falcons to 4-0 on the season and 2-0 in the SWC.  All scoring for the Falcons came in the second period when they put the puck in the net 3 times.  Pat Callahan scored twice and Michael Mattson added one more for good measure.  Mattson assisted on both of Callahans goals.  Patrick Mimms assisted on all three goals and Charlie Berry picked up his first high school point when he assisted on Mattson's goal.

 

The Falcons played a solid game, outshooting NFI by a 2:1 margin and playing stifling  defense all night.

 

Barlow plays next on Saturday 1/7 at the Danbury Arena when they take on Housatonic Valley at 1:40.  Come out and cheer the guys on!

 


 

28 - Dec, 2011 - Falcons handle Spartans 7-1

Barlow continues its winning ways when they picked up their third win of the season without a loss defeating their SWC foe Shepaug.  The Falcons were able to score twice in the first period.  The first goal by Pat Callahan with assists from Michael Mattson and Tim Eng.  Mattson would get the second goal of the priod, also assisted by Eng.  Starting goalie Thierry Jean improved to 3-0 as a starter turning away 11 of the 12 shots he faced over the 2+ periods he played.  Alex Dolcimascolo finished the game in net, playing the final 5 minutes without allowing a goal and turning away 6 shots of his own.

The Falcons opened up the scoring in the second period with a flurry.  Tyler Valus netted his second goal of the season on a rebound from a shot by Dan Cirino who picked up the assist.  Eng scored his first goal of the season with a shot from the point then added another later in the period after receiving a pass from Callahan who tallied the assist.  Callahan picked up 2 more goals,  It was Callahans second hat trick in 3 games.  Mattson and Will Sinsigalli picked up assists on Callahan's second goal.  Pat Mimms picked up an assist on Callahan final goal.

 

The Falcons next game is Wednesday Jan 4th at 6:40 at the Danbury Arena.  Come out and support the 3-0 Falcons!

17 - Dec, 2011 - Falcons Edge Masuk 2-1; Start season 2-0

The Falcons win their second game of the season 2-1 over SWC rival Masuk on Saturday night pushing their record to 2-0. Barlow fell behind early in the first but battled back in the period scoring twice, once from Justin MacDougall who got his first goal of the season on the Power-play. Michael Mattson scored his second of the season, also in the first period which ended up being the final goal of the game and game winner. Pat Callahan assisted on both goals. Pat Mimms and Tim Eng also added assists. Thierry Jean picked up his second win on the year in net with his second straight start shutting down the Panthers after letting up the first goal just 1:09 into the game.

 


15 - Dec, 2011 - Falcons handle Norwalk 7-1; Start season with a win

Falcons start the season with a convincing 7-1 win over the Bears of Norwalk/McMahon. Pat Callahan comes back from missing his junior year due to injury with a 4 point night (3g,1a), Michael Mattson added a goal and assist and Jack Cartafalsa had a goal with 2 assists. Tyler Valus scores his first High School goal and Patrick Mimms tallies one for the defense in an all around strong effort. Thierry Jean notches his first win in net as a Falcon and Alex Dolcimascolo finished the game in net. The game saw every Falcon see the ice! Great job all around!

 

The next game is Saturday 12/17 vs SWC foe Masuk @6:00 at the Rinks at Shelton.  See you there!

 


12 - Dec, 2011 - Opening day this Wednesday 12/14!

The regular season begins this Wednesday when the Falcons take on Norwalk/McMahon on Wednesday 12/14 @6:40 at the Danbury Arena.  This is the first time the Falcons play the Coop from Norwalk since the 2007-08 season when they defeated them in a comback win 4-3.  Norwalk, now lead by a new coaching staff, is a solid team with a lot of young players and will be tough coming out of the FCIAC.  The Falcons will match with their own brand of tough hockey as they look to start the season with a win for the second year in a row.  

 

Come out and support the team!

 


7 - Dec, 2011 - Falcons scrimmage Warriors of Wilton

The Falcons start their preseason tonight against D2 Wilton.  Barlow has a very good mix of verteeran leadership and young talent this year as it looks to improve on the previous season's 8-10 record.  The 2011-12 season sees 10 new faces on the team; 1 senior, 1 junior, 1 sophomore and 7 freshman.  With another strong class in the 8th grade, the future is looking bright for the program.  The near future,meaning this season, also looks very bright as the falcons return their top 4 point getters from the previous season.  

 

Come out and support the team this season, we hope to see you at some games!

 


28 - Oct, 2011 - Want to be a Falcon "Puck Kid"?

Have a son or daughter that plays hockey?  The Falcons are looking for "Puck Boys" and "Puck Girls" this year.  We're looking for 2 players at each of the 11 Falcon home games to help the Falcons out!  After the Falcons and visiting team finish they're pre-game warm-ups, the puck boy/girl will go and grab all the pucks from the nets.  They will then be announced with the starting Falcon lineup and stand on the blue line during the nation anthem!  If you are interested, or know anyone that may be interested, please have them contact Coach Maxfield .  Click the "Puck Kids" link above to see which games have already been claimed!

 


12 - Sept, 2011 - Falcons confirm, There will be JV games this season.

 

With the largest group of incoming freshmen since Coach Maxfield and Coach Blanchard took over the program 7 years ago, the Falcons will be looking to add 6-8 additional JV games this year.  This is a great opportunity for younger players and players who don't get as much time in Varsity games to gain additional playing time.  Coach Mallozzi is working on scheduling some JV games right now!

 

 


9 - Sept, 2011 - Schedule nearly finalized for 2011-12 season.

 

Keep your eyes here for the finalized schedule for the upcoming season.  The Falcons will be taking on many familiar foes,  renew some old rivalries, and face teams which they have never seen before.  It proves to be a very exciting season!
